Atlantic & Yadkin Railway

History &

This page is a directory of the equipment types used by the A&Y and it's predecessors and parent company, the Southern Railway. There are nearly 100 pages covering individual locomotives, cabooses, and some maintenance of way equipment on A&Y rails. Please use the links to the left to discover them. The photos are of A&Y equipment unless they are located under the Cape Fear & Yadkin Valley Railway (a predecessor), the Mount Airy & Eastern Railway (a connecting narrow gauge logging road), or the Southern Railway (the parent company) pages.

Research during my trip down to the region in September, 1999 yielded some interesting photos of locomotives and some other equipment. I have also had a few donated for my use and I've bought a number of photos from sellers on and off eBay.

If you have information about any A&Y equipment and can share it with me,  PLEASE DO!  I hope you enjoy and learn from what I have been able to find so far.
