Personal Interview Survey Page 6

Do you like to build model railroads with friends, or prefer to be by yourself?

I think I answered that question.  I don’t mind doing something by myself, but I really prefer to work with one or two others.

Are your spouse and family supportive of the hobby?

My wife has her hobbies and is supportive of mine but doesn’t participate much. My daughter likes trains, but she’s only 3 and is more suited to her Thomas wooden trains. My nephew is only 7 but he will want to help!  My Dad can help, but really isn’t into the hobby the way I am.

Do you have a hobby budget?

I have an allowance of $XX per month that is mine to do with as I please. I also can negotiate other hobby purchases with my wife.

Have you considered the cost of building a layout and have discussed it with your family?

Yes. I’ve been buying supplies and equipment for years because of this.  I have gallons of ground foam, rock molds and a bushel of Super Trees.  I also have over 30 pieces of Atlas Code 83 flextrack and maybe 15 #6 switches.  I have some bench materials accumulated and just about all the tools needed.
