This was a class K consolidation built in Richmond (c/n 29889) in 1904 for the Southern Railway. The number was kept when it was rented/leased by the A&Y.
The A&Y apparently used the 704 as an extra in February, 1949. I have no evidence that it was listed on the A&Y lease and no evidence apart from the delay report that it was rented. Letters reference the 704 leading an extra out of Pomona yard that was delayed by Southern trains. According to R.E. Prince, the 704 was retired in October, 1949.
