A&Y #273

This locomotive had the following characteristics:

Construction year 1898
Construction number c/n 16164
Constructed by Baldwin Locomotive Works (Richmond, VA)
Southern Class H-2
Cylinder size (inches) 21"x28"
Steam pressure (pouind per square inch) 200 lbs
Driver size (diameter) 58"
Weight (in pounds) 151,800 lbs
Tractive effort (in pounds) 36,193 lbs

The only data pertaining to the A&Y that I have on this locomotive is that it was removed from the A&Y lease and returned to the Southern on November 17, 1933. Those same records state that the Southern Railway recommended that the 273 be retired, storing it on a dead track at Spencer. It was scrapped at Spencer in December, 1934 according to R.E. Prince's roster data.

Prior to 1903 this locomotive was Southern #260.
