The Class G-2 locomotive was the first of the 2-8-0 type built new for the Southern Railway in 1895-1896. This locomotive originally was assigned road number 218, but was reassigned to 182 in 1903. I have no information when 182 was first leased or rented to the Atlantic & Yadkin. The only evidence that the 187 was rented or leased by the A&Y was a note in R.E. Prince's roster indicating the 182 went "to Atlantic & Yadkin Ry" and was eventually scrapped at Spencer November 28, 1934.
