This American Type 4-4-0 was originally built for the CF&YV. It was not renumbered in CF&YV 1896 renumbering. It and CF&YV old 23 were both numbered #7 from 1896-1899. The old #23 served south of Sanford, according to S. David Carriker. Presumably this implied the #7 served north of Sanford. It was sold to the Southern as part of the A&Y and eventually became part of class B. According to Prince, under Southern ownership it was renumbered SR #1200 by 1903. And then to 896 in 1903 to fit with other acquired B class locomotives . On November 3, 1907 it was renumbered to #1725. A month later on December 9, 1907, to make room for new A-7 switchers, the class was renumbered from #1xxx to #3xxx and this locomotive became #3725 prior to retirement in September, 1909.
