All information comes from the 1916 ICC Valuation, as these
cars are not listed in the 1917 Official Equipment Register. As
with the cabooses, the prefix may have been either "B" or "D" - my copy
of the ICC report is unclear. Nothing is known about how the cars were painted, or what became of them.
Car D-208 may have been the missing coach #113, in which case it would probably have been a PRR class PD or PE.
The
box cars may have been re-trucked narrow gauge cars from the Danville
& New River or Danville, Mocksville & Southwestern. They
may also have been some of the earliest D&W standard gauge cars.
They do not match any other cars in either the OER or ICC
Valuation. It is interesting to note that the number series
includes those of the two cabooses, and in fact the cabooses may have
been modified box cars of the same type as the rest of the work
equipment.
