Definitions of Track Chart Codes

  • Under column headed "Stations," stations capitalized indicate Junction Points with Foreign Lines.
  • Stations capitalized with # after indicate that at this station there is, with a foreign line, a joint agency of some character; for full particulars of which see list of "Joint Agencies."
  • Stations capitalized with % after indicate a divisional or line junction point.
  • Ch. After the station name in the Alphabetical Index indicates that the station is the county seat of the county in which station is located

f. Freight Agency
t. Local Ticket Agency, at which only local tickets are sold, and at which local passenger trains will stop to take on or let off passengers.
tc. Ticket Agency, at which both local and coupon tickets are sold, and at which local passenger trains will stop to take on or let off passengers
a. freight shipped to those stations must be prepaid
b. or absence of any character in descriptive column denotes that freight must not be billed to those stations or points
d. both carload and less than carload freight can be handled inbound and outbound
e. carload and less than carload freight may be handled inbound only
g. carload and less than carload freight may be handled outbound only
h. carload freight only may be handled inbound and outbound
i. carload freight only may be handled inbound only
j. carload freight only may be handled outbound only
k. less than carload freight nly may be handled inbound and outbound

Foreign Connections Codes

Explanation

1 Indicates that we have direct track connection with the foreign line
2 Indicates that we have not a direct track connection with the foreign line
3 Indicates that delivery of freight is effected by switching service of intermediate lines
4 Indicates that carload freight only can be delivered connections through switching service
5 Indicates that less than carload freight is interchanged by switching
6 Indicates that less than carload freight is interchanged by dray
