Personal Interview Survey Page 9

Are you an NMRA member?  Model train club member?

I used to be an intermittent NMRA member, but I can’t afford to join and keep up my professional societies, an alumni donation plan, 3 historical society memberships and 2 magazine subscriptions.  I am a current but long-distance member of the Upper Valley Model Railroad club in NH (http://cvrr.railfan.net/cvmrr/ ).  I’ve met with the local club in Sykesville, but I’m afraid I’ll start volunteering again and get sucked into their priorities. So for now I am not joining that club.  I am searching for a round robin club or a small group interested in modeling but without space in the area as those are my best bets of getting my layout done.

Do you scratchbuild?

I have done some minor projects, but I would say I’m a kit-basher and super-detailer rather than a scratch-builder.  I have the tools to scratchbuild though.

How much time will you allocate per week/month to work on the layout?

This will honestly depend upon too many factors to be certain.  I could guarantee 4 hours per week, but that could easily go much higher if I get motivated and involve the family in some way.
